Arsenal 'identify Premier League star' as free agent option ahead of 2025 summer window

Arsenal are reportedly interested in a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in 2025.

The 27-year-old has made a difficult start to the competitive term on a personal note, scoring just two goals across 13 Premier League appearances.

A day before Calvert-Lewin came off the bench in a battering at Manchester United on the weekend, Arsenal were putting five past West Ham United in East London.

The Gunners are now nine points behind Liverpool in the Premier League standings after a highly-productive afternoon against the helpless Hammers.

Since making the switch from Sheffield United to Goodison Park in August 2016, Calvert-Lewin has played 260 matches for the Toffees, making the net ripple on 70 occasions.

Arsenal considering Calvert-Lewin move?

According to Football Insider, Everton stalwart Calvert-Lewin could be in line for a shock move to a Premier League giant in the near future.

The report claims that Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are considering a swoop for the 27-year-old during the upcoming summer transfer window at the end of the term.

With Calvert-Lewin's current deal at Goodison Park expiring in June, the towering forward would be able to sign for the Gunners on a free transfer.

As a result, the 11-time England international would be set to receive a significant sign-on bonus and salary package at the Emirates.

Everton are supposedly looking to recruit another striker in the New Year, meaning that they could be willing to offload Calvert-Lewin in the middle of the campaign.

Arsenal competition and possible impact assessed

As well as Arsenal, it is believed that Newcastle United and AC Milan are looking at the possibility of a deal for out-of-contract man Calvert-Lewin.

The 27-year-old would not be the first English striker to make the switch to the Rossoneri, with Tammy Abraham playing for the club in recent times.

Down to both fitness and form, Calvert-Lewin is struggling to climb back to the heights that saw him bag 21 goals across all competitions during the 2020-21 term.

Consequently, it is hard to see the former England striker making a major impact at the Emirates for a team who are already competing at the top of domestic and European football.
