Kyle Walker has made a title race promise after Manchester City's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. The Reds inflicted more misery on their rivals, who are now seven games without a win in all competitions.
A rampant Liverpool scored the opening goal inside 12 minutes through Cody Gakpo and were in the game until a second-half penalty from Mohamed Salah, 15 minutes from time. The Blues' defensive and attacking problems became apparent once again and that could come to bite them at the end of the season.
Liverpool are now 11 points clear of Pep Guardiola's side in the Premier League, having continued their fine start to the campaign under Arne Slot. After the game, Guardiola admitted that his team are so far off some of the 'prime' sides that have competed at Anfield in previous years.

"Our target cannot be talking about titles in November or December but we didn't do it when we were top of the league," he said. "At the end, we are not far away from Arsenal or teams there but Liverpool win all the games in the Champions League and in the Premier League have just lost one here. That means how good they are doing.
"All we can do is congratulate them and learn from Liverpool. But at the same time we are still in December, not the end of the season so many things can still happen and decisions can be made more drastically. I'm sitting here still defending what we defend because this group of players gave me absolutely everything - probably the best years of my life as a manager. But I have to find a solution with the players to try to win games."
Following Guardiola's comments, captain Walker has now taken to Instagram to leave a message for supporters. He wrote: "We know our recent performances haven’t been up to the standard we expect, and we’re aware it’s been tough. But we’ve been through these challenges before, together, and we’ll come through this one as well.
"It’s important that we all stay together as one club, as Manchester City, through this tough spell. Your support, whether in the good times or the difficult moments, means everything to us. We’ve won titles in the final games of the season, and we’ve made history with a record-breaking 100-point campaign, right down to the last kick.
"We’ve shown time and time again that we can rise to the challenge, and we will do so again. I promise you, we’ll fight until the very end."
Liverpool will return to league action on Wednesday night when they travel to Newcastle United (7.30pm).
