Everton fans leaving the away end almost empty before full-time in their 4-0 defeat at Manchester United should be a warning sign for Sean Dyche.
Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas reported on 1 December that when Dyche went to applaud the away end after the final whistle, he was met with “a sea of empty seats” at Old Trafford.
Toffees fans had chosen to leave in their droves during a dismal second half which saw Dyche’s side go 3-0 down just 20 seconds after the restart, with those who remained letting out boos at full-time.
With many supporters choosing to vacate the stadium rather than stay and watch any more of a pitiful performance from the Blues, Dyche has a fight on his hands to regain their trust.

Once a manager loses the fans, the writing is often on the wall for their long-term prospects at any particular club, and Dyche is no different after his Blues side went down with a whimper at Old Trafford.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Travelling fans often have specific transport to catch amid meticulously planned trips, and as such, seeing most of the away end choose to end their Sunday viewing early should set alarm bells ringing.

As the Toffees made it four games without a goal despite Dyche dropping Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Beto up front, Manchester United ran riot at the other end to score four of their own – with ease.
Those still believing that Dyche is the right man to take the club forward – or at least keep them in the top flight – are fewer in number with every passing game, particularly with a new era on the horizon.
Dan Friedkin’s takeover can’t come soon enough for a fanbase beyond disgruntled, and once he arrives at Goodison, you’d find few supporters unhappy if Dyche was given the boot straight away.
In other Everton news, Dyche has discussed what he told the club’s board amid interest in Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.
