Arsenal are reportedly ready to splash €135 million for the signature of Newcastle United attacker Alexander Isak. As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Mikel Arteta is ready to break the bank for the former Borussia Dortmund attacker.
Isak has thoroughly impressed with his ability to find the back of the net since his club-record £63 million move from Real Sociedad in 2022. The Sweden international has scored 40 goals and provided seven assists in 80 appearances for the Magpies till date.
Aged just 25, Isak is yet to enter the peak of his career and has everything a modern-day centre-forward aspires to have. He is blessed with bags of pace and strong technique and is also gifted in terms of finishing.
Arsenal have improved by leaps and bounds under Mikel Arteta since the Spaniard took over at the Emrates in 2019. However, an area where the Gunners have been lacking for a long time is the attack.
Arsenal simply do not have a clinical goalscorer up front which is a key reason why they missed out on the title in the last two seasons. Gabriel Jesus is the only natural number nine on their books who has scored just one goal this campaign.
Mikel Arteta has used Kai Havertz as a false nine since the German's arrival but he is not a natural finisher. The former Bayer Leverkusen star has, however, impressed with his eye for goals this season with nine goals in 19 games.
With the addition of Isak, the north London giants would have a completely new dimension going forward. The Swede is contracted at the St. James' Park until the summer of 2028.
Arsenal ready to battle rivals for Bundesliga defender: Reports
Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a move for RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida, also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur. As claimed by Football.London, both north London clubs admire the Dutchman who only joined RB Leipzig this summer.
Despite only moving to the Red Bull Arena in the summer, Geertruida could be heading towards an exit as early in January. The versatile defender has made 15 appearances across competitions for Marco Rose's side having contributed with one goal and one assist.
Geertruida is an immensely versatile defender who can play centre-back, right-back, left-back, defensive midfield and even in central midfield. The 24-year-old is also capped 14 times for the Netherlands so far.
RB Leipzig are said to be open to selling Geertruida for €45 million in January having signed him for €25 million in the summer. Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund, and Lyon are also among the admirers of the former Feyenoord defender.
