How Cole Palmer’s record for Chelsea now compares to Mason Mount’s

Chelsea have stumbled upon one of the best players in the Premier League, who continues to get better every single time he plays.

Cole Palmer was undergoing somewhat of a goal drought based on his standards before yesterday’s win against Aston Villa.

It had been three games since he had found the net for the Blues before he curled home a beauty to round off a comprehensive 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer’s addition to the Chelsea side can be seen as a direct replacement for Mason Mount, who departed for Manchester United in the same transfer window.

Cole Palmer and Mason Mount’s records for Chelsea

The Champions League winner from 2021 was seen as one of the fan favourites when he was at the club, coming through the academy and establishing himself as one of the top players in the league in the process.

It is fair to say his time at Old Trafford has not gone as he would have liked, although the same can certainly not be said for Palmer in West London.

As shown by GiveMeSport, the pair now sit on the same amount of goals for Chelsea, although Palmer has achieved the stat in 162 less games than it took Mount to do.

What Chelsea fans think of Mason Mount now

Despite having the potential to go on to become a Chelsea legend, supporters now see Mount in a very different light.

Blues fans are quick to mock Mount when he has an underwhelming performance, or when his new side are beaten.

The most notable example of this was when he was brought off the bench as United looked to see out what would have been a 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

However, Palmer stepped up with two goals in stoppage time to send the home fans delirious, mostly at the sight of Mount losing on his former home patch.

Enzo Fernandez was quick to gloat to Mount, with the Argentine now being seen as one of the club captain’s in the Englishman’s absence.
