Daniel Jebbison played an hour and Pierre Dwomoh the full 90 minutes as Watford Under-21s were beaten 3-1 at home by Millwall this afternoon.

A combination of a hip injury and not being selected mean the on-loan Bournemouth striker has not been part of the first-team squad since November 8.

He has played just nine minutes of senior football since mid-October and is still yet to complete a full 90 for the Hornets.

Jebbison was given an hour at London Colney, while midfielder Dwomoh played the full game.

The Belgian has also not featured since November 8, although he has been on the bench for the last two games after missing the trip to Plymouth due to illness.

However, a team that also included Antonio Tikvic and Keiky Almedia were beaten by the Lions in the Premier League Development League South.

Josh Keyes had a 20th-minute shot blocked and then keeper Gabriel Ortelli made a fine save at the other end five minutes later.

The visitors took the lead just after the half-hour mark through Ra’ees Bangura-Williams and it could have been worse for the Hornets as it needed a block from Tikvic right on the stroke of half-time to deny Millwall a second.

Three minutes after the restart Watford came extremely close to levelling things up when Jake Watkiss curled a free-kick over the wall and beyond keeper George Evans but the ball came back off the crossbar.

Both keepers then made saves as Ortelli smothered a chance at one end before Evans kept out a low drive from Watkiss at the other.

That save led to a corner and when the ball dropped to Dwomoh he saw his volley deflected wide.

Keyes fired over after being played in by Jebbison, who was replaced shortly afterwards.

With a quarter of an hour to go Millwall extended their lead through Mihailo Ivanovic, and the striker made it 3-0 eight minutes later from the penalty spot.

The Hornets scored a consolation a minute from time when Ignacio Garcia-Ramero crossed for Jonathan Lawson to head down and inside the back post.

The Under-21s are in action again next Monday when they travel to face Swansea at 7pm at the Landore Training Centre.

Watford: Ortelli; Eames, Almeida, Dwomoh, Tikvic (Abbott ht), Clarridge, Watkiss (Buers 64), Sikiru, Jebbison (Lawson 64), Fraser-Grante (Garcia-Romero 75), Keyes (Torres 64).
