Former Hull City loan star linked with January transfer move to Championship title hopefuls

Tyler Morton impressed during his season-long loan stint in the Championship at Hull City last season and he could be on the verge of returning to English football's second-tier next month.

Morton is yet to play in the Premier League this season, despite being on the bench in the last six games including Sunday's impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield. But that lack of game-time under Arne Slot could see him move away in January.

The dynamic midfielder has been linked with a move to City's Championship rivals Sheffield United when the window thrusts open for business on January 1, according to The Sun.

Promotion contenders United have a gaping hole in the middle of their midfield after star man Oliver Arblaster was ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery on his ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament, having suffered a similar injury to Tigers duo Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi.

So far this season, the talented ex-Tiger has played just 258 minutes across six games, three of which have come in the Premier League 2, plus two in the Carabao Cup and one in the EFL Trophy. While being in the squad and on the bench in the top fight and Champions League is great experience, there's no substitute for playing games and we know from speaking to Morton last season, how keen he was to play regularly.

Morton, who played 41 times for the Tigers under Liam Rosenior last season, was linked with an Anfield exit in the summer with Southampton, Bournemouth, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig linked with £20m moves for the 22-year-old.
