Irony as Crysencio Summerville admits he's been shocked by how good one West Ham player is

West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville has been given a run of starts by Julen Lopetegui over the past five weeks or so.

Crysencio Summerville has scored just one goal for West Ham, but his ability is unquestionable.

Perhaps he needs to bulk up a bit, but when he does that I believe he will become a top-class player at the very highest level.

Julen Lopetegui seems to take Summerville off more than most, and I think the West Ham head coach isn’t quite convinced by the winger just yet.

We all have to be patient with the former Leeds man.

He will undoubtedly explode one day and reach another level. Until then, he just needs to keep working hard in training.

And Summerville has numerous top-class performers whom he can learn from.

Crysencio Summerville raves about West Ham teammate

Mohammed Kudus is set to return to the starting lineup for West Ham United’s clash with Leicester City on Tuesday night.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Having him back and available again will be a wonderful boost for us, with a run of wins needed as a matter or urgency now.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian is our most exciting attacking player, and we haven’t been the same going forward without his explosive pace and unpredictability.

Summerville has raved about his teammate, when speaking to Voetbal International.

The former Leeds United star said, “Kudus is my boy. A good player, but also a nice person,” Summerville said.

“I don’t have to explain anything about his footballing qualities, everyone can see that for themselves. Really, wow.

Sometimes I see things in training that make me think, ‘This is just crazy, this is crazy’. He is a top talent.”

I love to see the praise from Summerville for Kudus.

However, it will be ironic when the Ghana international replaces the Dutchman for our clash with Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Summerville’s Kudus praise is ironic

Now, the Hammers fans might not like hearing it, but I think the 23-year-old will be the player to drop out of the side.

I would start Kudus up front through the middle, but there is no way Lopetegui will play the Ghanaian as a central striker, and using him alongside Lucas Paqueta as a left-sided No.8 will leave us too exposed defensively.

The 24-year-old isn’t getting into the team on the right wing ahead of Jarrod Bowen.

So in my mind, he will come back into the team on the left wing, and Summerville will be sacrificed.

Funnily enough, left wing is not his best position. His favoured role is when he plays as a number 10, but Lopetegui would have to drop Lucas Paqueta to facilitate that.

He’s still more than good enough to do a job out wide on the left.

And I think Crysencio Summerville will find himself back on the bench for West Ham when Mohammed Kudus returns.

He couldn’t have timed his praise for his teammate any better if he tried!
