West Ham are keeping tabs on Evan Ferguson’s situation at Brighton ahead of the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Irons are among the clubs interested in the 20-year-old, who could be available on loan in the new year.

Football Insider first revealed on 22 November that Ferguson wants to leave Brighton in the January transfer window.

The striker is unhappy at his lack of game time at the fourth-placed Premier League club in the 2024-25 campaign under new boss Fabian Hurzeler, who shut down a potential exit in January in comments over the weekend.

But it is believed the Republic of Ireland international wants to remain in the Premier League and has set his sights on joining another top-flight club in the new year.

West Ham have struggled for goals despite backing Julen Lopetegui with a raft of new signings in the summer, including Germany international Niclas Fullkrug.

West Ham could bolster their attacking options with a move for Ferguson even if the 31-year-old returns to full fitness in the coming weeks.

Michail Antonio has led the line for Lopetegui’s side in the absence of Fullkrug, who is yet to score in four appearances since his reported £27million move from Borussia Dortmund.

The Irons have hit 17 goals in 13 top-flight games so far this season and sit 14th in the Premier League table.

Ferguson, who signed a six-year Brighton deal last year, has scored once in 10 club appearances this term – but has started for Hurzeler’s side just once in the Premier League.
