**Manchester United legend Roy Keane says no one could have predicted that Liverpool would have a 9-point gap at the top of the table after 13 games.**
The 2-0 win over Manchester City means the Reds have stretched their lead over the reigning champions to 11 and Keane says everyone has been left blindsided by the Merseyside club’s form:
“Absolutely fantastic, we have to praise the manager and he has done an amazing job. They were a decent group he took over, whatever he has added to it his personality…”
“If you had said at the start of the season Liverpool would be where they are now you wouldn’t believe them, you’d think they would need locking up. But their performances, defensively they are very good and their big players are turning up at big occasions.”
“No way were Liverpool losing today, absolutely not. And it wasn’t just their effort today, they showed great quality. The decision-making in terms of possession was excellent.”
It was a statement win against City

While their opponents were lacking confidence heading into the match at the weekend, having not won in six games, Liverpool still had to turn up and perform.
They did that from the first minute and they could have arguably won by more than the two-goal margin.
Liverpool have to keep their heads

The 9-point lead is a massive advantage to have at this stage of the season. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has already tried to ratchet up the pressure by speaking out about how difficult it is to maintain a lead at the top of the Premier League.
The Gunners had an eight-point gap to City in 2023 before blowing their chance to [**win the title**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-news-neil-ruddock-city-arsenal-title/). Arteta’s side are currently leading the chasing pack, so they will be hoping for a similar capitulation from Liverpool. It will be up to Arne Slot’s side to maintain their performance levels from now until May.
