Manchester City star Phil Foden has definitely not had the start to the 2024/25 season he would have hoped for.
Just a few months ago Foden was on cloud nine, after scooping the Premier League Player of the Season award, and also the FWA Player of the Season.
But his form has dipped dramatically this season, with the 24-year-old still yet to score in the Premier League.
Foden did come into the new campaign without a pre-season, and was also ill in the opening weeks.
But Foden has been playing regularly again for Manchester City for a while now, and frustratingly for everyone, he just hasn’t been his usual impactful self in a sky-blue shirt.
Against Liverpool, he was poor again, and Foden has now taken to social media to comment on the club’s current situation.

Foden’s form has been a real surprise this season.
The star was simply unplayable at times last term, and impressively shouldered responsibility in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland at times.
This term, Foden has mainly played in his favoured central role.
But he’s just not been able to make the same impact, and fans have started to grow a little frustrated.
He’s one person coming in for criticism right now, because the feeling is that other attacking players need to be chipping in with goals to support Haaland.
After Kyle Walker sent a message to Man City fans after the defeat to Liverpool, Foden has this evening also taken to social media to comment on the club’s poor form right now.
He said: “It’s been a difficult few weeks and of course, we’re not where we want to be. But, we’ll work together and keep fighting. We go again on Wednesday.”
Man City need much more from Foden
It’s a statement we so often see from footballers when things aren’t going so well.
This somewhat hollow message likely won’t go down too well with fans, with Foden’s form having just not been good enough this season, against what we know he’s capable of.
Fans don’t particularly want to hear from these underperforming players right now, and simply want to see improvements on the pitch.

Foden stepped up last season, and his club need him to do so again.
The talent he has makes it impossible to believe that this poor spell can go on much longer, and hopefully, something will soon click and we see the 2023/24 Foden make an emphatic return.
Pundit Tony Cascarino recently said Foden looks ‘unrecognisable’ compared to last season and few would argue against that. And it’s now on him to rediscover his mojo, and help City save their season.
