Bryan King believes Brennan Johnson is still not happy with Tottenham fans after the way he has been treated this season.

The ex-Spurs scout claims the forward’s lack of celebration after scoring in the 1-1 Premier League draw with Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday [1 December] was his way of sending a message to supporters.

Johnson deactivated his Instagram account earlier this season after receiving abuse online. He has since reactivated his account.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks that situation is still bothering the Welshman.

“We saw Johnson’s reaction when he scored,” King said.

“He is obviously still not happy with Tottenham fans and comments that have been made about him on social media because he didn’t exactly go into a jubilant celebration when he scored. He made sure people knew how he felt about the way he has been treated by the supporters.

“I thought he had moved past that. However, it still seems to be bugging him.”

Brennan Johnson unhappy with supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Johnson is Spurs’ top scorer this season with 10 goals in all competitions. However, he continues to receive criticism online from his own fans.

Therefore, it is hardly surprising that the 23-year-old didn’t display much emotion after opening the scoring against the Cottagers on Sunday.

While there might have been other reasons behind his lack of celebration, it would be fair to suggest that the treatment from his own supporters would likely have been a contributing factor.

Therefore, fans should think twice before posting messages online about a player.

Although they might have their own opinions, criticising one of their own players isn’t going to help, and is a rather odd way of showing support and encouragement.
