Alexander Isak provides huge injury update ahead of Liverpool clash

Newcastle United star Alexander Isak is set to make a triumphant return against Liverpool on Wednesday night in the Premier League. Despite fears over an injury sustained during a clash with Tyrick Mitchell, the Swedish ace has bounced back quickly and is ready to take on Arne Slot's squad at St James' Park.

Isak, who had a frustrating spell on the sidelines earlier this season due to a toe injury, was forced off the pitch after just 21 minutes last time out. However, speaking to beIN Sports, Isak confirmed his recovery: "I am fine. It was really painful, a bad knock, but I've responded well."

He also revealed his intention to play against Liverpool, stating: "That's the plan."

The forward expressed his gratitude for the Wor Flags tribute from Newcastle fans, saying: "I am humbled but I wanted to give something back to the Newcastle fans. I wanted to do that anyway but I have never felt like that anywhere else."

Manager Eddie Howe provided an optimistic update on Saturday night, noting: "It was a contact injury, not a muscle pull, which is good news for us. We hope he will recover quickly but at this moment I don't know."

Fortunately for Howe and the Magpies, Isak is indeed set to spearhead the attack in the upcoming fixture.
