Ruud van Nistelrooy is facing “major problems” immediately after arriving at Leicester City as the replacement for Steve Cooper.
This is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who was instrumental in the Dutchman’s arrival at Old Trafford in 2001, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the boss could struggle to turn their form around.
It has been said that Leicester are “leading candidates” for relegation given a lack of quality in their squad, with weaknesses all over the pitch.
Football Insider revealed on 24 November that Cooper was sacked after an owner-led dressing room inquest in which players labelled his tactics “a disgrace”.
However, Brown has explained that the players must now step up as they no longer have the excuse of blaming Cooper’s tactics for their below-par performances.
He went on to question whether the job would be right for the former United striker given their issues with recruitment in the transfer window.

Ruud van Nistelrooy warned Leicester job could cause problems
Brown previously backed Van Nistelrooy to be successful in management after his successful spells in charge of Man United and PSV.
The former scout, who remains very well-connected within the game and has a wealth of experience working closely with managers at the top level including Sir Alex Ferguson, explained that the boss will have a lot of work to do to turn around their form.
“*I’m a bit worried on Ruud’s behalf, I must admit,*” he told Football Insider.
“I wish him well, he’s a smashing bloke, but I’m not so sure it’s the right job for him, because I think they’ve got some major problems there.
“Their recruitment and efforts in replacing some of their best players was below-par in the summer.
“There are weaknesses all over the pitch in that team, and they’re one of the leading candidates to get relegated come the end of the year.
“So he’s got a lot of work to do to solve those issues and turn around their form.
