Mohamed Salah's Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has posted a cryptic message on social media following reports he would accept a new one-year contract at the club.
Salah's future at the club remains the subject of speculation with the forward's current contract on Merseyside set to expire at the end of the season. No fresh terms in place means Salah could leave as a free agent in the summer.
The Egyptian star has scored 13 goals and assisted a further 11 in all competitions this season for Arne Slot's team. He added to his impressive tally in Sunday's 2-0 win over Manchester City with a goal and assist.
In theory, Salah could agree to join a new club from January onwards should he reach an agreement with a club outside England. However, a recent report by The Athletic has claimed the 32-year-old would accept a one-year extension to his stay at Liverpool.
Over the weekend, French publication L'Equipe linked Salah with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but the Ligue 1 champions have denied they are in talks. Hope among the Reds fanbase is that Salah will stay at the club past the current season.
Following the report of a possible one-year extension, Salah took to X, formerly Twitter, to post an image of him celebrating his goal against Man City by sitting on the advertisement board infront of the Liverpool fans.
Salah didn't add a caption of anything, just the image of him with his arms afloat with a smile on his face. Despite appearing to be happy at staying at Anfield, the report from The Athletic does claim he is growing increasingly exasperated at Liverpool's handling of the negotiations.
The ECHO reported back in September that Salah is happy to extend his contract with Liverpool beyond this season. It's understood that Liverpool and Salah's representatives, including Ramy Abbas, remain in dialogue about extending the forward's deal with the Reds.
