Paul Merson has just predicted the score when Everton face Wolves on Wednesday

After Everton’s 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, attention has immediately turned to Wednesday’s clash against Wolves.

There were so many poor performances across the park against United, with Jarrad Branthwaite well under par.

Vitaly Mykolenko put in a pitiful display, too, and it was only the summer signing Iliman Ndiaye who impressed.

So evidently, Wednesday’s game is now a must-win for Everton and in particular Sean Dyche, who is on really thin ice.

Everton fans have urged the club to sack Dyche but it seems, for now, he’s set to be given another game to turn his fortunes around.

Ahead of the crucial Goodison Park game, Paul Merson has just issued his score prediction.

Paul Merson gives Everton vs Wolves score prediction

Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Paul Merson has just given his thoughts on Everton’s clash against Wolves.

“I usually don’t worry about Everton because in the end they will always find a way to stay safe,” Merson explained.

“The only consolation they have in the relegation battle this season is the fact that all three newly promoted teams are not the best. But Everton are in this battle every season, and that’s a problem because sooner or later, you will go down if you keep putting yourselves in these situations.

“Everton don’t score a lot of goals and Wolves definitely have goals in them. I also expect Wolves to be better away from home, so I’m going with a win for the visitors.

Merson predicted Wolves to win 2-1.

Everton need to use the Goodison crowd

Everton have played with the handbrake on far too many times this season, so on Wednesday, they must really go for it and use the vociferous crowd to their advantage.

When Goodison Park gets rocking, it makes it incredibly difficult for visiting teams to get into a rhythm, as it can be really intimidating.

But they must see drive and a will to attack the game from their side, so that should be the instruction from Dyche.

Everton certainly have enough quality to beat Wolves.
