Liam Delap could turn down advances from interested clubs including Man City in favour of continuing his development with Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the striker wants to play regular football at this stage of his career.
His desire to play a key role at the top level is the reason he chose to leave the Etihad and join the Tractor Boys in the summer.
The 21-year-old has attracted interest from Chelsea as well as a potential return to Man City, after Football Insider revealed they are keeping close tabs on his progress.
Delap has featured in all 13 of Ipswich’s Premier League games so far this season, starting all but one, and has scored six goals and provided one assist in that time.
His performances, including impressive displays against both Tottenham and Man United, have seen him heavily linked with a move away from Portman Road.

However, he has now been backed to continue his development at his current club rather than attempting to make the jump up too early in his career.
Liam Delap told to reject Ipswich Town and Chelsea offers
Delap has quickly become a very highly-rated prospect in the Premier League, but would be unlikely to play first-team football at a Champions League-level club.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with players at the top level including over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the striker would find regular game time hard to come by at a top side.
“*I think he’s in the ideal situation at the moment,*” he told Football Insider.
“He’s a very promising talent, and he’s in the Ipswich team and playing regularly in the Premier League.
“So I wouldn’t expect him to be looking to move on from that any time soon.
“Yes, I’m sure these top clubs are having a look at him because he’s very talented, only young, and he’s home grown which always helps.
“He’s very physical and not afraid to put himself about, and he’s got an eye for goal too.
“But if he’s going to Chelsea, he’s not going to get regular game time. If he’s going to Man City, he’ll probably get even less.
“Before he makes that kind of move, he’s got to prove he can score bags of goals at this level.

“Staying at Ipswich would be the best option for him, and they think very highly of him.
“So I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him ignore the interest and continue playing regularly in the Premier League for them.”
