Jude Bellingham delivers positive injury update ahead of Real Madrid's La Liga clash Athletic…

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has provided a positive fitness update ahead of Wednesday's La Liga meeting with Athletic Bilbao.

Bellingham helped Real Madrid clinch all three points in Sunday's clash against Getafe, netting a 30th-minute penalty to open the scoring at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 21-year-old then provided an assist for Kylian Mbappe to double Real Madrid's advantage before the half-time interval.

However, Bellingham failed to return to the pitch for the second period, making way for Turkey international Arda Guler.

Speaking after the match, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Bellingham was withdrawn due to a "problem in his neck".

Bellingham shares positive injury update

Ancelotti appeared hopeful that Bellingham would shake off the issue to take his place in the team for Wednesday's trip to San Mames.

The England international has now taken to social media to confirm that he will be ready to start against Ernesto Valverde's charges.

Bellingham uploaded a picture with a message on his Instagram story, writing: "Checks all good, ready for Wednesday. Thanks for the messages."

The midfielder has so far failed to match the goalscoring heights of last season, but he has still made a number of important contributions to Ancelotti's side.

Bellingham has started all 16 of his competitive appearances this term, scoring three goals and contributing five assists.

Bellingham's record against Athletic Bilbao

Bellingham will be looking to enjoy more success against Athletic after helping Real Madrid take six points from last season's two league meetings.

The former Borussia Dortmund man scored his first Real Madrid goal in a 2-0 victory at San Mames on the opening weekend of the 2023-24 campaign.

Bellingham then registered an assist in March's 2-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu, laying the ball off for Rodrygo to score his second goal in a match-winning brace.

The Englishman will certainly carry momentum into the midweek fixture after scoring in each of Real Madrid's last three league matches against Osasuna, Leganes and Getafe.
