Liverpool and Manchester City run rule over Premier League wing-back duo

Liverpool and Manchester City are both constantly on the lookout for players who can further improve their. While both clubs were involved in a high-voltage clash during the weekend, the recruitment team of both clubs were at work.

The Premier League giants are looking to add a new left-back to their squad in the near future and according to a report from [TBR](https://tbrfootball.com/exclusive-liverpool-and-man-city-sent-scouts-to-watch-quartet-at-wolves-this-weekend-with-38m-defender-wanted/), their representatives were in the stands to watch Rayan Ait-Nouri and Milos Kerkez in action.

Ait-Nouri has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League since joining Wolves from Angers SCO. He can feature as a full-back as well as a wing-back and has immense potential. The 23-year-old’s abilities along with his performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs.

As far as Kerkez is concerned, an impressive campaign in the Dutch top flight with AZ Alkmaar helped him secure a move to Bournemouth in the summer of 2023. He has already established himself as a key figure in the Cherries’ first-team at just 21 and top clubs are lining up to prise him away.

While City and Liverpool were involved in a head-to-head clash, the fixture between Wolves and Bournemouth was of their interest. Both clubs had their representatives in the stands of Molineux on Saturday to keep a close eye on the two full-backs.

City do not have an out-and-out left-back in their squad and they do need to add one. Meanwhile, Andrew Robertson is already 30 and he hasn’t been at his best of late, as a result, the Reds are keen on signing a new left-sided defender.

They have been scouting them for around 12 months and continued their groundwork during the weekend ahead of a potential move. While Wolves as well as the Cherries would love to keep hold of their attacking full-backs, they will find it very difficult given the amount of interest in their services.

Wolves in particular could have a tough time as they are battling relegation and if they fail, Ait-Nouri’s departure will be a certainty. Both City and [Liverpool](https://thehardtackle.com/transfer-news/2024/11/26/liverpool-view-milos-kerkez-as-a-top-2025-target-winter-move-improbable/) have massive financial capabilities and they can both offer interesting projects as a result, it will be interesting to see which of them they actually go after.
