Everton manager Sean Dyche has been slammed by journalist Ian Croll for insulting Everton supporters for a decision he made in the 4-0 loss to Manchester United.

The Blues were hammered at Old Trafford on Sunday (1 December) and are just two points above the relegation zone as a result.

They have won just two Premier League matches so far this season and the pressure is mounting on Dyche, with a dismal festive run ahead where they play four on the top five.

Liverpool ECHO journalist Ian Croll said on the Royal Blue Podcast [2 December] that he felt like the substitutions came too late in the defeat, saying: “He waits until 66 minutes when we’re 4-0 down to start making substitutions.

“To me, it’s a bit of an insult to the fans that he is making those substitutions.”

It feels like the former Burnley man is on borrowed time in the Goodison Park dugout with the club seemingly in another relegation dogfight.

Dyche waited until the 66th minute when the Blues were 4-0 down to make his first three changes, rather than being proactive and bringing players on at half-time to try and change things.

It felt rather pointless as the game was over at that point. Everton struggle to score goals as it is, never mind when they are down by four goals away from home.

With fixtures against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City on the horizon, the Toffees could be dragged right into the bottom three by the time the New Year comes around.

The Blues need to start getting results – they cannot afford to wait until the new ownership arrives to make a decision on Dyche’s future as it may be too late by then.

Otherwise, they may start the new era in their new stadium in the second tier of English football.
