According to Fichajes.net, Paris Saint-Germain have submitted an offer worth €60 million for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman began his career with the Ligue 1 giants and could return to his homeland in the coming window.
Nkunku emerged through PSG's youth ranks before making 78 appearances for the first team, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. He then moved to RB Leipzig for a reported €19.5 million in 2019, where he scored 72 goals and provided 56 assists in 172 games, helping the German side win two DFB Pokal titles.
After a four-year spell in Germany, Nkunku joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from Leipzig for a reported €60 million. Since then, he has played only 1308 minutes across 34 games for the Blues, scoring 14 goals and providing one assist.
Most of his minutes this season have come in the Carabao Cup and UEFA Conference League. The Frenchman has had to contend with a backup role behind first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson in the Premier League.
Nkunku's current contract with the English side is valid until the summer of 2029, and a return to his homeland will depend on PSG's ability to strike a deal with Chelsea.
"We need to improve many things. We can attack better, we can defend better" - Chelsea manager discusses the club's title credentials
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has discussed the club's chances of claiming the Premier League title this season after their impressive start to life under his stewardship. The Italian tactician took over this summer and has the Blues in third place, equal on points and goals difference with second-placed Arsenal.
Maresca has averaged 2.05 points-per-game in his 21 games in charge of the Blues, but does not believe his side is in the discussion for the league title this season. After his side's 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, December 1, the Italian tactician said (via FotMob):
"We need to improve many things, We can attack better, we can defend better. But what we need is you have to live moments to get better. These kind of players, some of them in their life, in their experience, they’ve played probably one final for any title, Probably last year, Carabao Cup, has been the most important game they've played. So you need to live moments to get better, and when we start to get these moments, probably we get better and we can compete."
"Arsenal players, Liverpool players, City players, they all live finals, compete for titles, so we're going to be there soon. But this is one of the reasons why we are still far and not ready to compete with those clubs."
Chelsea will next face Southampton on Wednesday in the Premier League and will be keen to secure another win. Maresca's men are currently on a three-match winning streak in all competitions and are unbeaten in six games.
