Postecoglou provides ‘significant’ injury update on Totenham star who was taken off vs Fulham

Ange Postecoglou plays down injury concerns of Tottenham star Archie Gray

Tottenham Hotspur teenager Archie Gray came on in the 85th minute against Fulham with Ange Postecoglou’s side playing a man up and needing a winner. There was a sizeable amount of stoppage time as well, but in the 96th minute, only 10 minutes after he had been introduced into the match, Gray needed to be substituted off as he looked in a bit of discomfort.

The teenager has been a vital part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, especially in the cup competitions and the Europa League, so there was obviously a fair amount of worry regarding what exactly had happened to him considering he was taken off in stoppage time when there was barely any time to run on the clock.

🚨 NEW: Ange Postecoglou is hopeful Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Cristian Romero will all be available for Thursday evening’s trip to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Tottenham coach Postecoglou eased any fears regarding the player’s fitness as he revealed in his pre-match press conference that Gray had only suffered a knock and would not be sidelined for far too long. The former Celtic boss was quoted saying the following on his player according to Football London.

“Yeah, he got a knock, a bit of a dead leg so hopefully nothing too significant.”

Archie Gray is yet to hit his stride at Tottenham Hotspur.

A dead leg is far from a serious injury and at most, Gray should be out of action for a week. In an ideal world, however, he could return to the fore against Bournemouth itself though it would be far from a surprise if he is left out of the trip to the south of England with Spurs’ Europa League and Carabao Cup games later in December in Postecoglou’s mind.

Spurs can easily make do without the 18-year-old with Pedro Porro likely to play at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday. If indeed Postecoglou had plans of rotating the former Sporting Lisbon right back and handing him a deserved rest, Djed Spence is also a handy option to deploy on the right side of the backline.
