Chelsea could make a renewed approach to sign Benfica centre-back Tomas Araujo following the hamstring injury sustained by Wesley Fofana.
Fofana suffered the setback in the victory over Aston Villa on Sunday and manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that he will be sidelined for the rest of the year.
The Blues are unlikely to rush him back to action due to his injury record and reports claim that the London giants could revive their pursuit of Araujo in January.
Araujo was the subject of interest from the Blues in the last transfer window, but Benfica were reluctant to contemplate his departure, days before the deadline.
However, a January exit could be on the cards for the talented centre-back, but the Blues won't be alone in the race. Manchester United are keeping tabs on him as well.
Benfica are expected to demand at least £60 million for the 22-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs in the Primeira Liga.
