Gary Neville has sent a cheeky social media message aimed at Pep Guardiola after Salford City, whom he co-owns, drew Manchester City in the Third Round of the FA Cup.
The League Two outfit will travel to the Etihad Stadium in January for what is the first ever meeting between the two clubs. Neville, along with several other members of the ‘Class of 92’, bought out Salford in 2014 and has overseen their rise to the Football League.
City are, of course, competing at the other end of the pyramid, having won the FA Cup itself seven times, reaching the last two finals. Salford’s win over Chesterfield on Saturday saw them reach the Third Round for the first time in their history.

A day later, City suffered a fourth straight Premier League defeat when going down 2-0 to Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield. During the match, home supporters jokingly chanted ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Guardiola.
The Blues boss responded by smiling and holding up six fingers corresponding to the six titles his team have won during his time at the club. Neville played on this after Salford were drawn at City in the FA Cup on Monday.
Taking to X, the former Manchester United captain wrote: “He’s getting sacked in the morning @SalfordCityFC.” Guardiola addressed his reaction to the Anfield crowd after full-time on Sunday.
He said: "All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton (in a 2-1 loss at the Amex)! Maybe they are right with the results we've been having.
“I didn't expect that at Anfield. They didn't do it at 1-0, but at 2-0. Maybe they should have sung it in the past.
“I didn't expect it from the people from Liverpool but it's fine, it's part of the game, and I understand completely. We've had incredible battles together. I have respect for them."
