Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’s future has become a big topic of conversation.
The Egypt international has been the Reds’ best player since he joined the club in 2017. He has been the biggest reason behind the clubs’ success over the years and remains a key player.
Salah has had a tremendous start to the 2024/25 season as well. He has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in just 20 games in all competitions, which is a stunning return.
Despite that, there has not been an agreement between Salah and Liverpool over a new contract, and that has led to a lot of speculation about the winger’s future.
What sources are saying about Mohamed Salah after PSG’s reported interest
Reports emerged recently that French champions Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Salah when he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2025.
The Egypt international is clearly not happy with the fact that the Reds have not extended his deal. He has made a few public comments about the same as well.
Salah has received some criticism from Jamie Carragher over his contract saga, and PSG’s reported interest now has made things more interesting.
After TBR Football exclusively revealed that there have been no direct talks between PSG and Salah’s camp, Ben Jacobs has backed that claim.
In his report on GiveMeSport, the journalist has added that multiple sources with an understanding of the situation have claimed that Salah and his camp are using PSG’s reported interest ‘to put pressure on Liverpool to offer him a new contract’.
As previously revealed by TBR, the report also claims that Salah is open to staying at Liverpool and that he is hoping for a two-year contract with a club option for a third.
The Egyptian is also open to a shorter deal – a one-year contract with an option for another. A short-term contract, as things stand, is what Liverpool would prefer.

The one issue stopping Liverpool from extending Mo Salah’s contract
Salah is a Liverpool legend and one of the greatest players to ever play for the club.
The Egypt international has delivered season after season, and he is still outperforming most players on the planet despite being 32 years old.
TBR Football can confirm that Liverpool’s owners know that Salah wants a three-year deal, but the issue is that FSG have their doubts over whether he can maintain his current level across that duration of time.
Salah, however, believes he can continue to compete at the highest level in the Premier League and the Champions League for another four to six years.
It is a difficult position to be in for both Liverpool and Salah, but letting him leave for free after seeing his form this season feels a bit silly.
We think Liverpool should find a way to reach an agreement with Salah to extend his stay at the club.
