FA Cup third-round draw: Arsenal host Man United, Aston Villa take on West Ham

The FA Cup third-round draw has been completed, with a couple of all-Premier League match-ups grabbing the headlines.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will not be eased into FA Cup action, with the Red Devils handed one of the toughest possible draws.

The reigning champions will kick off their title defence against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, although both sides will face off in a blockbuster Premier League dress rehearsal on Wednesday.

United clinched the FA Cup title under Erik ten Hag’s leadership, beating city rivals Manchester City in May and will be eager to retain their crown.

Aston Villa will welcome West Ham United to Villa Park in the other all-Premier League FA Cup fixture.

Both sides have endured a tricky start to the 2024/25 Premier League season and will hope for a reprieve in the domestic tournament.

2023/24 FA Cup finalists Man City will host third-tier strugglers Salford City at the Etihad Stadium, although it remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola will be in the dugout for that fixture.

Pressure is piling up on the Spaniard after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, with Man City now winless in seven games across all competitions (L6).

Guardiola is unlikely to get the boot, especially after pledging his allegiance to the club with a new two-year deal, but results have to improve in the coming weeks to keep the wolves at bay.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will face Morecambe, while Liverpool host League Two Accrington Stanley.
