FPL injury update: Gabriel, Isak, Solanke, Romero, Martinez latest for GW14

It’s the lesser-sighted mid-week round of Premier League action this week which means another chance for FPL managers to score a bagful of points.

The fixture list has delivered too, with Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United vs Liverpool and Arsenal vs Manchester United among the mouth-watering ties being played out.

Ahead of Gameweek 14 of the Premier League season, Express Sport have detailed all the latest FPL injury updates.

Gabriel - Arsenal

A point-scoring defender at both ends of the pitch is an FPL manager’s dream, with Gabriel second on that particular list so far this season.

Only Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk has scored more points as a defender this term, but fears across the FPL world were raised on Saturday when Gabriel was hooked at half-time of Arsenal’s win over West Ham United.

Mikel Arteta addressed the concerns post-match, explaining it was only precautionary, meaning he’s likely to be involved against United on Wednesday.

Alexander Isak - Newcastle United

Who knows how many points Alexander Isak might’ve bagged in FPL if he hadn’t suffered from so many injuries since joining Newcastle United in 2022.

The Swedish striker was forced off through injury midway through the first half of Newcastle’s draw with Crystal Palace, with fans left sweating over his availability for Wednesday’s game against Liverpool.

However, Isak is expected to feature in the match at St. James’ Park, having declared himself fit on Monday afternoon.

The Spurs boss said: “He was under the weather so we sent him home. Hopefully a full recovery and ready to go for the next one.”

Assuming he’s shaken off the bug that kept him out of action this weekend, Solanke should be in line to feature against former club Bournemouth on Thursday.

Cristian Romero hasn’t been seen on a football pitch of any kind since the November international break, with the Argentine having missed all three Tottenham matches since the return.

But with Spurs not in action until Thursday night, the added time could give Romero an extra chance to return, with Postecoglou recently admitting his star defender is ‘close’.

Emiliano Martinez - Aston Villa

Unai Emery revealed post-match after Aston Villa’s hefty defeat away to Chelsea that Emiliano Martinez picked up an unfortunate hand injury.

On the back of seven games without a win, losing his No.1 goalkeeper will prove a major blow for Emery, even if Robin Olsen is a capable deputy.

Brentford at home is up next for Villa, with Martinez a doubt for the fixture.
