The England youngsters made a quickfire start at Doncaster’s Eco-Power stadium with Lucia Kendall firing the hosts into a third minute lead with a fine effort.

However, the Swedes got back on level terms on 24 minutes.

Though Keating did well to prevent an initial Swedish shot from finding the target, Sofia Reidy fired home from close range from the resulting corner.

The Young Lionesses were presented with an opportunity to claim a draw after being awarded a late penalty.

But skipper Katie Robinson saw her effort saved by Swedish ‘keeper Sofia Hjern.
