Crystal Palace will block a potential exit for Adam Wharton in the January transfer window amid interest from Arenal and Man City.
That is according to former Man United, West Ham and Tottenham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Eagles are determined to keep hold of the 20-year-old.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 4 October that the midfielder “ticks a lot of boxes” for Man City as they weigh up potential replacements for Rodri.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also thought to be keen on a move and have been closely monitoring his progress at Selhurst Park.
Wharton has struggled with a groin injury this season, and underwent surgery in November to find a permanent fix to the issue, and last featured in the League Cup win v Aston Villa on 30 October.
Ahead of Palace’s Premier League trip to Ipswich Town, Glasner confirmed: “If everything goes as planned, he will have his first training session with us after the Ipswich game.

“Also, the [Manchester] City game is too soon, but maybe then Brighton is possible for him.”
The midfielder’s absence in recent weeks has made Palace even more determined to retain his signature, as his presence in the middle of the park was missed.
The South London club have won just one Premier League game so far this season, and are hoping to push on once their injured stars return.
Crystal Palace determined to keep Adam Wharton after Man City twist
Brown previously told Football Insider that interested clubs will wait to see how Wharton performs upon his return from injury before making a move, casting doubt over any January offers.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that a January exit for the midfielder can likely be ruled out.
“*I wouldn’t expect Wharton to go anywhere in January,*” he told Football Insider.
“Palace aren’t going to let him leave mid-way through the season.
“There’s been interest from Arsenal and from Man City among others, but I’d be shocked if he leaves.
“They’ve missed him while he’s been out of the side with this injury, and he only arrived last January, so they don’t want him to leave so soon after he came in.
“They also feel they can’t keep letting key players leave the club.
“There’s been a lot of speculation about Guehi’s future and Eze’s future, and they let Andersen and Ayew leave in the summer, but they don’t want a massive overhaul.

“So from what I hear, they’re going to keep hold of Wharton in January.
“If that interest comes back in the summer, and I expect it will, then maybe they’ll entertain offers, but he won’t leave in the middle of the season.”
