Gary O’Neil is back under pressure at Wolves, just as Julen Lopetegui is at West Ham United.
Wolves fell to a 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend, and essentially gifted the Cherries the three points at Molineux, conceding three penalties through silly mistakes.
Jose Sa had a horror show for Wolves, and there were also mistakes from Toti Gomes and the usually-so-reliable Craig Dawson.
Wolves have now slipped back into the relegation zone as a result of the defeat.
And things aren’t going too much better for former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui over at West Ham, who were just beaten 5-2 by Arsenal.
Lopetegui is now one of the favourites to be sacked next and interestingly, West Ham are reportedly considering making contact with a manager Wolves have previously considered on two occasions

It’s been reported by the Guardian that West Ham are now looking at potentially replacing Lopetegui already.
Lopetegui’s future is in severe doubt, and it was suggested recently that his future would hinge on results against Newcastle United and Arsenal.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
He got a 2-0 win over the Magpies, but the pressure is now right back on after the Arsenal game.
The Guardian say former FC Porto boss Sergio Conceicao is of ‘serious interest’ to the Hammers.
And that’s interesting, because Conceicao was someone Wolves shortlisted when they were replacing Nuno Espirito Santo is 2021. In the end of course, Wanderers brought in Bruno Lage.
And when Lage lost his job in October 2022, Conceicao was linked with Wolves again, although it was said any move would be unlikely since he had a hefty release clause at Porto.
But now he’s unattached, and seemingly in demand.
Wolves should keep an eye on the Lopetegui and Conceicao situation
So West Ham look like they could soon make a managerial change, and the struggles of Lopetegui likely won’t surprise too many Wolves fans.
While he did a good job of steadying the ship at Molineux, Lopetegui didn’t exactly blow people away when he was in charge at Wolves and certainly, the football wasn’t pretty.
Sergio Conceicao at FC Porto (2017-2024)
Games managed – 368
Wins – 265
Draws – 45
Losses – 55
Goals scored – 803
Goals conceded – 317
Trophies won – 11
It’s interesting that West Ham are now potentially looking at Conceicao as his replacement, given Wolves have looked at the Portuguese tactician in the past.
Conceicao is someone that Wolves ought to consider as a replacement for O’Neil, but it could be West Ham get there first.
Following the defeat by Bournemouth there were a few more shouts from Wolves fans for Conceicao to replace O’Neil. After the Bournemouth shambles some fans just want O’Neil sacked at this point, but the Lopetegui situation could well mean it’s a non-starter.
