PSG aren’t alone in their pursuit. Barcelona are also interested in Kimmich, alongside Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, as they look to strengthen their midfield and defense ahead of the 2025 season.
Kimmich’s situation at Bayern has shifted since Vincent Kompany became head coach. Once seemingly set to leave when his contract expires next summer, the versatile German—capable of playing in midfield orat right-back—now faces an uncertain future.

Kimmich hasn’t shared whether Bayern Munich has submitted a contract proposal yet, but discussions between the club and the 29-year-old’s representatives are ongoing. The German international has now stated that he knows when he wants his future resolved, emphasizing his desire for clarity on the situation.
“I will not wait until summer,” Kimmich told ZDF SportStudio (h/tGOAL). “I will sit down in winter and then try to see the bigger picture. And make the right decision.”
When the January window opens in a couple of weeks, Kimmich can begin talks with any club over a pre-contract that will start in July 2025.
