The two players Ruben Amorim will sign if Man United accept £50m Real Madrid bid

Fresh reports suggest a £50million bid could soon arrive on Manchester United’s doorstep.

Following Ruben Amorim’s arrival as Manchester United head coach, it quickly became clear that the Portuguese will have a very limited budget to spend in January.

The Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules continue to shackle United’s spending, especially after £200m was spent improving Erik ten Hag’s squad in the summer.

But United could be handed a PSR lifeline if a big-money bid arrives in January. According to iNews, Real Madrid are lining up a £50m bid for Diogo Dalot.

Selling players has not been United’s strong point over the past decade – a £50m deal for Dalot would rank third in United’s most expensive transfer sales of all time.

Man United’s stance on selling ‘important’ Diogo Dalot

Dalot was signed by United for £19m back in 2018, so a £50m sale would provide a huge profit on the club’s accounts.

But there is no doubt he has been one of the better players in an underperforming United side in recent years.

Amorim labelled Dalot as an “important” player last week and hailed his versatility. Finding suitable wing-backs for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system is a big challenge but Dalot looks well-suited to the role.

However, the iNews report claims United are “tempted” to accept Madrid’s offer for the 25-year-old full-back.

It is suggested that Amorim already has alternative options at wing-back with Amad Diallo starring against Everton on the weekend.

Additionally, it would provide some much-needed funds for Amorim to do some business of his own…

Funds towards Viktor Gyokeres and Geovany Quenda deals

Since Amorim’s arrival, United have been linked with several of his Sporting stars. The new United boss promised not to sign any of his former players in January, but summer deals are certainly on the cards.

The report claims that United are aware that a £50m sale would help Amorim pursue deals for both Viktor Gyokeres and Geovany Quenda.

Gyokeres is available for £63m in the summer, while Dan Ashworth is keen to swoop for Quenda as one of Sporting’s most exciting young talents.

Both players are attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe but the appointment of Amorim could help United jump to the front of the queue.
