Sought-After Coach Eyes Long-Term Stay on Inter Bench

Simone Inzaghi has been occasionally linked to a move to the Premier League, also because his contract with Inter isn’t long-term, but, as he said a few times, his Serie A run isn’t close to ending. He spoke to Sky during Il Gran Galà del Calcio.

“I don’t think I’m underestimated, as everybody has his own journey. I feel very appreciated by the Nerazzurri and was great at Lazio too. They were my life for 20 years, while I’ve been in Milan for 4. I hope to stay for a long time. Coaches are judged daily as we have to make many decisions.”

Inzaghi is confident about repeating.

“It’s even harder than doing it the first time, but we have all the qualities to do it. We’re experienced and mature. We know that other teams got better and aren’t up there by chance. There are many games and competitions. It’s hard to be on point all the time.”

Inzaghi has mastered rotating his men in the last couple of seasons.

“There are some tools, in addition to the eye test. We talk with them and the trainers. It’s not easy considering the schedule, but we try to adapt.”

Inzaghi was quizzed about the January window, as Inter aren’t expected to do much.

“Piero Ausilio says it’s difficult to intervene, but Dario Baccin is always traveling around the world, and they are never in Milan. They know what I asked. The squad is highly competitive already. I try to do my best with what I have despite the difficulties. The last few years have been challenging.”
