Chelsea will be strong favourites when they travel down to St Mary’s for a midweek clash against Southampton.
The Blues play away at Southampton on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Interestingly, the Saints recorded a league double over Chelsea back in the 2022/23 season. The clubs go into tomorrow’s game in very contrasting form this season, though.
While Enzo Maresca’s side sit third in the league table, Southampton are rooted to the bottom with five points from 13 games.
Chelsea’s predicted line-up against Southampton includes three changes from the team that beat Aston Villa 3-0 at home on the weekend.

Paul Merson predicts Southampton vs Chelsea
According to Paul Merson, Chelsea will pick up a comfortable three points at Southampton tomorrow evening.
In addition, he thinks that the Blues are perhaps flying under the radar this season and things are clicking into place at the club.
Merson told Sportskeeda: “I can’t see anything but a Chelsea win. They are flying at the moment, third in the league and that’s only on alphabetical order. Chelsea are moving the ball well and I expect Cole Palmer to enjoy a lot of space to operate in during this game. I don’t think Southampton will cause them any sort of problems.

“Chelsea’s worry at the start of the season was going to be finding their best team. That’s what troubled Mauricio Pochettino. Enzo Maresca has come in and he has not missed the mark at all when it comes to identifying his core group of players. I thought it was a really bold decision to let Raheem Sterling go in the summer, but he’s been proven right now.
“I would even say Chelsea are flying a bit under the radar now. They are doing very, very well…
“Prediction: Southampton 0-3 Chelsea.”
Joe Cole believes Chelsea can mount a title challenge this season if they’re within six points of runaway leaders Liverpool by the end of December.
Southampton should be aware of Cole Palmer
Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer, 22, usually goes on red-hot streaks in front of goal. Therefore, it could spell bad news for Southampton that he scored and assist against Villa a couple of days ago.
Palmer’s scored more goals from outside the box than 13 Premier League clubs this season, so the Saints would be wise to get as close as possible to him.
If the left-footed attacker hits top form during this festive period, the Blues should be able to rack up a lot of league points.
