What Emi Martinez posted on Instagram after injury update on Aston Villa star's hand

The last thing Aston Villa now need is injuries piling up amid their woeful form.

Aston Villa suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday and it’s not just what’s happening on the pitch that will worry Unai Emery.

That’s eight games without a win and 22 goals conceded after just 13 matches and now Villa could be without Emi Martinez.

Aston Villa’s number one injured his hand after stopping a Nicolas Jackson shot when he dived in front of the ball after passing the ball straight to the Chelsea striker at the weekend.

When your luck isn’t in, it just isn’t in and now the team could lose a pivotal player of the team because Martinez has picked up an injury – he went off at half-time at Stamford Bridge.

Nothing has come out of Aston Villa themselves and Emery is sure to update fans ahead of the games against Brentford and Southampton this week.

Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has provided an injury update on Martinez on Twitter.

Emi Martinez suffers ‘small fracture’ on finger

It’s the wrong time for Martinez to get injured, not just because of Villa’s form, but because of how the games are coming in thick and fast.

In December alone, there are seven games to be played in all competitions, including a trip to Germany to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

But this is what has been said from Martinez’s home country about his injury.

“Dibu Martínez has a small fracture in one of his fingers,” wrote Argentine journalist Gaston Edul. “There is a bone injury. I could stop it in the short term. He asked for the change because of pain in his waist.”

What Martinez posted on Instagram amid Villa injury

If Martinez is sidelined, then Robin Olsen is the man who will come in and you feel, at a minimum, he will start the game against Brentford on Wednesday night.

You could argue that Villa are conceding goals for fun anyway with Martinez in between the sticks, so hopefully, a change might bring a change in luck, even if fans don’t want it.

Either way, Martinez himself posted an image on his Instagram story of his daughter kissing his hand, as fans hope for a quick recovery.
