Man City are unlikely to make a deal for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz happen in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old has struggled to settle in Turin following his move from Aston Villa in the summer window.

Football Insider revealed earlier this year (28 February) that City boss Pep Guardiola is a “huge fan” of the Brazil international.

Luiz was previously at the Etihad Stadium between 2017 and 2019 but left without playing a senior game due to work permit issues.

The midfielder has reportedly opened the door to leaving Juventus, but sources say it would be “very surprising” if City struck a deal for the 26-year-old in the new year.

The English champions are desperate to bolster their midfield ranks with Rodri out for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign with a serious knee injury.
