Liverpool boss Arne Slot has made a joke about the 115 charges levelled at Manchester City when discussing Mo Salah's future.
Salah, 32, is the subject of increasing speculation as he approaches the final six months of his contract. After scoring and assisting in Sunday's comfortable 2-0 victory over rivals Manchester City, Salah admitted that it was likely to be his final match against Pep Guardiola's side at Anfield.
Ahead of Liverpool's trip to Newcastle on Wednesday, Slot was asked about Salah's comments and replied: "Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 accusations, so he expects them not to be in the Premier League next season."
The chuckling Reds boss hastily added: "It was a joke - I repeat, it was a joke!"

City remain locked in a court battle with the Premier League which could result in the reigning champions' unprecedented relegation as a result of their 115 alleged financial breaches, all of which they deny. The case is unlikely to reach a conclusion until late 2025 if any appeals are launched against the final verdict.
Liverpool are already 11 points clear of Guardiola's City at the top of the table, with Salah on course to lift the Premier League trophy in what'd be his final season at Anfield. The 32-year-old could still extend his stay and is reportedly open to only signing a one-year contract extension, but Liverpool are yet make him an offer.
"We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club [Liverpool]," Salah revealed after scoring twice in the Reds' 3-2 win at Southampton last month. "I'm probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this.

"But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans' hands. Let's wait and see."
Asked if he was disappointed by Liverpool's stance, he replied: "Of course, yeah. I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed but we will see. I'm very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic.
"I'm just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I'm just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next."
