Phil McNulty believes that “emergency action” at Everton may be the only option Dan Friedkin has if Sean Dyche can’t start winning some games.
The Toffees are the joint-lowest scoring team in the Premier League with just 10 goals to their name and currently sit 15th in the table.
Writing for the BBC Sport website (2 December), BBC chief McNulty shared his thoughts on the “trouble” that the Merseyside outfit are currently in.
“After Everton play fellow strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Wednesday, they face a Merseyside derby against rampant Premier League leaders Liverpool at Goodison Park before a visit to Arsenal then a home date with Chelsea,” he wrote.
“Everton could be in very deep trouble after that and emergency action may be the only option.

“The club is trapped in a vacuum, with Moshiri effectively owner in name only as he waits to get out. Friedkin is an owner in waiting, so it is hard to see how any significant decisions such as a change of manager can be made even if this was the desired option.
“What is clear is that the next few days and weeks will bring decision time even closer and Dyche needs results fast – starting against Wolves.”
Dan Friedkin may have to find a new manager for Everton
Most fans may already believe that a decision has been made regarding the future of Dyche as the Everton boss but, in reality, it’s more likely that Dan Friedkin will be waiting to see if the Englishman can turn things around.
Everton are in something of a precarious situation at the moment, with the Toffees currently involved in the Premier League relegation battle.
Most fans likely expected their team to avoid being dragged into yet another dogfight but unfortunately, things haven’t quite worked out that way.
While Dyche is arguably the best man for the job to keep the Merseyside outfit up, at times this season it’s felt like he could have demanded a lot more from his players.

Indeed, there have been times when glimmers of the teams’ class have shown through but more often than not, they’ve been on the back foot.
Only time will tell what the future holds but at the moment, it’s not looking all that great for the blue half of Merseyside.
