Liverpool are flying high at the top of the Premier League and Champions League as we head into December.
Arne Slot’s Reds are nine points up on Arsenal and Chelsea domestically and the only club still perfect through five rounds of the new look league phase in Europe.
The mood is good, the confidence is bubbling over, and now even the manager is making jokes about Manchester City being the sportswashing front for a human rights abusing petrostate facing 115 breaches of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
When asked about superstar forward Mohamed Salah’s recent response saying he’d wanted to enjoy his final game against City at Anfield in case it was his last, Slot responded with:
“Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 charges and doesn’t expect them still in the Premier League next season!”
He quickly smiled and explained it was a joke, in case anyone missed that (probably a few angry City fans missed it).
“I do expect them to still be in the Premier League,” he added. “It was a joke!”
It was a funny joke but also Liverpool’s upper management should really do the thing where they give Mo a new contract so that we can worry less about that and spend more time enjoying the mess City are currently in.
