Arsenal dressing room verdict on Gabriel celebration amid Viktor Gyokeres theory

Arsenal star Jorginho has explained how Gabriel Magalhaes' new goal celebration is a topic of discussion in the dressing room.

Gabriel has scored in each of the Gunners' last two wins over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League and West Ham in the Premier League. Both of the defender's goal came from Arsenal corners, with the headers taking the Brazilian's tally for the campaign up to four in all competitions.

After finding the back of the net against Sporting, the Arsenal centre-back appeared to recreate the celebration from striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has been heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal in recent months.

The Sporting striker has scored 24 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions this season, and his trademark celebration of interlocking his fingers to cover his face, was recreated by Gabriel in both the win in Portugal and against the Hammers at the London Stadium.

Jorginho has spoken about Gabriel's latest celebration and revealed that it is already being talked about in the Arsenal dressing room.

“We make fun of it [Gabriel’s celebration] and he has fun with it as well, so I think it’s great stuff what’s happening,” Jorginho told the Evening Standard.

With Gabriel now having four goals this season, the defender has already matched his tally from last term in 31 fewer appearances. Jorginho has praised his Arsenal teammate for his ability to be a threat from set pieces but would not give any insight to rivals on how Gabriel can be stopped.

“I’m not gonna tell you,” said Jorginho while grinning. “He’s really good and I think it requires a lot of work from the whole team and everyone does their job and then he’s a real threat, and he’s been so helpful to us.”
