Despite a failed move in the summer, Nico Williams continues to be a hot topic at Barcelona, who will be desperate to upgrade their ranks in the attack next summer.
But although Barça continue to track Nico’s progress, the club are only expected to make an offer if the player himself categorically shows his desire to join the Catalans.
Barcelona otherwise were negatively affected by the way Nico’s transfer saga panned out in the summer, with the forward opting to remain at Athletic Club at the last time.
Nico eyeing Premier League move?
Now, a recent report from The Athletic (h/t SPORT) has painted a grim picture of Barcelona’s hopes of signing Nico next summer.
As per the report, it appears Nico is growing increasingly willing to take up a new adventure away from Athletic Club. However, his primary desire is to play abroad, such as England.

In fact, Nico’s potential move to the Premier League could be a real possibility next summer, as the forward looks to take the next step in his career.
Moreover, many Premier League clubs have already taken note of Nico’s desire. The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are likely to be involved in a battle to sign the Spaniard next summer.
Barcelona, to that end, are unlikely to be the next destination for Nico. The club’s cause are not helped by the fact that Athletic Club will not budge from their demands, which is the value of the player’s release clause.
Barcelona are clear about the fact that they will not enter into a bidding war for Nico next summer. They are, however, studying other options in the market.
The likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Rafael Leao could be real options for the Catalans next summer, though it remains to be seen whether or not Barça can afford either of them.
