Liverpool enjoyed arguably one of their best weeks ever recently having beaten Real Madrid and Manchester City in the span of a few days.
The Reds brushed aside the two best teams in Europe with ease with Liverpool now having a real claim themselves to being the best side on the continent, with Arne Slot’s men top of the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League standings.
With Liverpool’s players focused on recovery ahead of another big week against Newcastle United and Everton, there’s not a moment to lose for the Anfield side in their quest to win the English championship and to bring home a seventh European title.
And Paul Merson has now given his verdict on how Liverpool will fare against Newcastle on Wednesday.

Liverpool tipped to do what ‘not many teams can do’ and beat Newcastle
Speaking to Sportskeeda, the pundit has picked Liverpool to beat Newcastle at St. James Park, with Merson believing that few sides have what it takes to get back-to-back results against the likes of Madrid, City and Newcastle, except for this Reds side.
Merson said about Liverpool’s upcoming trip to Tyneside: “The whole of the Premier League would have been looking at these three fixtures for Liverpool – Manchester City at home, Newcastle away and then Everton away.
“They’ve already brushed aside City and if they go on and win the next two matches as well, it could be over for everyone else hoping to catch them! Liverpool absolutely destroyed Manchester City.

“It was bordering on embarrassing at times. This is a tough game away at Newcastle, but imagine the scenes if they win. Real Madrid, Manchester City and Newcastle beaten in the space of a week. Simply wow, not many teams can do that. Prediction: Newcastle United 1-2 Liverpool.”

This week could be as big as any for Liverpool in the Premier League
Liverpool have been the outstanding side in the Premier League this season with the Merseyside giants dropping points in just two games and doing so in a manner that suggests that the Reds could go up another level or two.
Yet this week could be as big as any for Liverpool in their mission to win the Premier League, with Slot facing off against two tough teams on the road who will both be out to beat Liverpool and to derail their title bid.
Indeed, Slot has already shared how ‘intense’ Everton fans can be, and the Dutch coach will want to see his side push through these latest barriers and to get two more wins under their belt with the festive period finally upon us.
