West Ham United need to improve results fast if Julen Lopetegui is to keep the fans onside, Ally McCoist has said.
Speaking on talkSPORT (3 December, 8:07am), McCoist said that he can’t understand why the Irons have been so erratic and inconsistent so far this season.
Lopetegui’s side face Leicester on 3 December following an up-and-down week, beating Newcastle United 2-0 away from home before being thumped 5-2 by Arsenal at the London Stadium last time out.
McCoist said: “I just can’t, I don’t understand West Ham – I watched them against Newcastle, and they were in total control, absolute total control.
“I know it’s Arsenal, and Arsenal on their day can do it to anybody, but again it’s just the level of inconsistency.

With five winnable fixtures coming up ahead of facing Liverpool and Manchester City on either side of New Year’s Day, December looks set to be a defining month for Lopetegui and the Irons in general.
Having won just four games this season and sitting 14th in the Premier League table, Lopetegui’s side are yet to string a run of consistent results together since the Spaniard took charge.

The Irons’ best performance of the season at St. James’ Park was followed up by arguably their worst of the lot next time out, shipping four goals in 30 one-sided first-half minutes against Arsenal on Saturday.
The victory at Newcastle will have gone some way to easing the pressure on Lopetegui, but any credit in the bank quickly evaporated against Arsenal, putting the 58-year-old right back to square one.
Fans inside the London Stadium, and in the away end at Leicester, want, deserve and expect more from their manager, and expect them to make their voices heard should the downward spiral continue.
