Premier League leaders Liverpool will travel to St James’ Park on Wednesday evening.
Newcastle United are looking to bounce back from a miserable 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on the weekend but will be big underdogs for the midweek clash.
The Magpies have a terrible record against Liverpool with their last win coming back in 2015. In the past 15 meetings, Liverpool have won 11 including all of the last six.
Eddie Howe is expected to qualify for Europe this season but Newcastle have slumped to the bottom half of the table and defeat on Wednesday could open up a gap to the top six.
There is reason for Newcastle fans to be semi-optimistic though… This season’s best performances have all come against the supposed ‘Big Six’ sides.
Newcastle have beaten Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea at home this season while also picking up a point against Manchester City.

Liverpool find themselves on an incredible unbeaten run which includes wins against the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid. Slot praised Newcastle fans for their “intensity” ahead of the match, and he has now paid huge respect to St James’ Park.
But Slot believes Wednesday’s trip to Tyneside is an even more difficult task for his players.
Speaking in his press conference, Slot said: “We know we have a difficult week coming up again.
“We thought Madrid and City were very difficult teams to face, which they actually were as well. I think it’s even harder going away to Newcastle.
“We’re not even halfway through the season yet.”
