Manchester City are preparing for their latest Premier League outing in the 2024/25 season.

Just three days after their recent 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, City will be back in action on Wednesday evening to take on Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.

Heading into this game, Pep Guardiola’s side occupy fifth place in the league table with 23 points to their name, leaving them just one point and one place above their midweek opponents.

While addressing the media, the City manager shared some details about the current fitness situation of a particular figure in his squad and the likelihood of him featuring against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Pep Guardiola shares John Stones injury details ahead of Man City vs Forest

In his post-Forest press conference, Guardiola was asked if John Stones is likely to feature in Wednesday’s clash after missing City’s two previous matches against Feyenoord and Liverpool.

In response, Guardiola said that Stones is “not close” to making a return to action because he has “problems in his feet” that are stopping him from training.

Stones’ injury woes continue

After completing the first 45 minutes in City’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Stones was taken off at halftime to be eventually ruled out of the Feyenoord and Liverpool games.

With Guardiola now suggesting that the defender is likely to be out on the sidelines for some time, the Blues will have to get through their upcoming round of big domestic and European fixtures without him.

Last week, after the 30-year-old was unavailable for training, many City fans suggested Stones should be sold due to his constant injury issues.

Having struggled with injury and fitness issues throughout the entire season, resulting in the Englishman starting just seven of the 11 matches he’s appeared in across all competitions, it’s clear that his bad luck in this particular area is continuing.
