Nottingham Forest are set to face the defending Premier League champions Manchester City, and Pep Guardiola has given his verdict on the Reds so far this season.

After a win over Ipswich Town last time out, confidence is back up and supporters are feeling positive again about things at Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City haven’t been so fortunate in recent times, as they seven games without a win in all competitions, which is almost unheard of for them.

Nuno Espirito Santo won’t be too bothered about City’s form, as he will be well aware that they can catch fire at any moment and still have arguably the best squad in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest have pulled off an upset before, as the only side to beat Liverpool this season.

Live on Manchester City’s YouTube channel, Guardiola stated that Nottingham Forest are a very good team and even compared them to Brighton.

“Strong physicality, a good manager, good experience, like Brighton and other teams. Like I said before, the middle class, they’ve raised a lot, and it’s not just one, two or three games, there’s already been a lot of games played in the Premier League. And they’re in top positions, so that means they’re good.”

Nottingham Forest given their game plan by Paul Merson

Paul Merson has predicted a 2-1 victory for Man City, but he did offer up some advice for Nuno Espirito Santo when talking ahead of the game.

He has highlighted counter-attacks as the one area that Forest can cause problems for Manchester City, and we have to agree.

“I want to predict a win for City, but this game is just perfect for a team like Nottingham Forest if I’m being honest. They are excellent on the counter, and facing City at this stage suits them. If they fail to score in the opening 20 minutes of this game, they will be in trouble.”

Anthony Elanga, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi have the pace and power to pick the ball up in deep areas and really drive at Manchester City, as well as get in behind.
