“It was a joke. I repeat, it was a joke.”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot threw a little bit of shade at rivals Manchester City, as he took advantage of a cryptic comment from Mo Salah.
The Egyptian winger continued his sensational form during the Reds’ 2-0 win over their title rivals City at the weekend, despite being at odds with the club over a new contract.
Salah is clearly holding out for a better offer, and has been throwing out suggestions that he is prepared to leave if the Merseyside outfit don’t cough up enough.
Following the win over City he said: “Honestly it’s in my head. Until now this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool at home so I was just going to enjoy it.”

“Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 charges, so expects them not to be there next season… it was a joke!”.

Arne Slot’s Man City joke.
Man City have an ongoing battle with the Premier League over 115 charges against the club, and when Slot was asked about Salah’s comments he jokingly pointed out that perhaps he was referring to the fact that City could be relegated if found guilty, rather than Salah potentially leaving Anfield.
Slot said:
“Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 accusations for Man City not to be in the Premier League next season and I do expect them in the Premier League next season,” Slot said.
“The boring answer is always the same. This is not the place for me to talk about Salah’s contract and maybe already, I’ve said too much about the joke I just made.
“That will probably get the headlines. It was a joke. I repeat, it was a joke.
The manager also added: “We know we have a difficult week coming up again and as we thought, Real Madrid and Man City were difficult to face. I think it’s even harder to go to Newcastle away as well.
“We’re not even halfway through the season yet, but it’s a good position to be in. That’s definitely true.”
