Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca opens up on expectations for the future.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has claimed that his side has what it takes to dominate English football in the years to come. The Italian manager has done a marvelous job at Stamford Bridge having taken over at the club in the summer.
Things have not gone well for the Blues in the last couple of seasons, with the club struggling for any kind of consistency. They spent a ludicrous amount of money and underwent several managerial changes but it did not work well on the pitch.
The west London giants only managed to secure a 12th and sixth-place finish, respectively, in the last two seasons. Quite naturally, Maresca did not have exactly an easy task on his hands when he was appointed by the Blues in the summer.

However, the former Leicester City manager has done incredibly well at Stamford Bridge so far as they look on their way back to where they belong. Chelsea find themselves third in the table after 13 gameweeks, only behind second-placed Arsenal.
Ahead of the Blues' midweek fixture against Southampton on Wednesday, December 4, Enzo Maresca has made a big claim. He revealed that Chelsea's progress has been beyond his expectations and their young squad could dominate English football in the next few years. Maresca said, as quoted by Ben Jacobs on X:
“It’s a big job, but in terms of expectations we are ahead. I told the owners when I joined, because of the age of the squad and how good it is, Chelsea can dominate English football in four or five years."

Maresca's youthful side have racked up 25 points in 13 games so far this season and look solid enough for a top-four finish. They also lead the UEFA Europa Conference League table with 12 points in four games.
PSG make a move for Chelsea attacker: Reports
French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly made a €60 million offer for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku. As claimed by Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, the Ligue 1 champions are keen on reuniting with the Frenchman who came through their youth ranks.
Nkunku is a product of PSG's youth academy and made 78 senior appearances for them before leaving for RB Leipzig in 2019. He scored 11 goals and provided four assists for PSG while playing mostly as a squad player.
The Frenchman developed into an elite talent at Leipzig, where he amassed 70 goals and 56 assists in 172 games. He was even named the Bundesliga Player of the Season in 2021-22 when he scored 35 goals and produced 20 assists in 52 appearances.
Things have not gone well for Nkunku at Stamford Bridge following his £52 million move in 2023. A series of injuries have seen him become a squad player for Chelsea.
Nkunku has so far made only 34 appearances for the Blues, with 23 of them as a substitute. He has been mostly used by Maresca in the Conference League and Carabao Cup this campaign. Despite the limited opportunities he has got this campaign, the 27-year-old has registered 11 goals and one assist in just 792 minutes of football.
