Williams tipped to leave Athletic in 2025 but Barca no longer interested

Nico Williams is being tipped to move away from Athletic Club in 2025 but not to Barcelona as the Catalan giants are said to be no longer interested in the Spain star.

The Athletic’s usually reliable David Ornstein is reporting that Barca “are not there” for Williams due to the stellar form of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

However, an exit from Athletic is said to be “probable” next year with the Premier League appearing a potential destination.

Ornstein says that Williams is now “more open” to heading to England than previously and cites Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs as admirers. Bayern Munich are also thought to be keen.

Williams has a release clause of €55 million - by no means an eye-watering amount in today’s transfer market - and the only question seems to be whether he will go in January or next summer.

Barca had previously been tipped to reignite their interest in Nico at the end of the season, but it appears that he may not longer be on the club’s radar.
