Arsenal legend Ian Wright has conceded that the Gunners only have one hope in beating Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
Arne Slot's team have been in fantastic form to start the campaign, only dropping five points in their opening 13 games. That leaves the Reds top of the table, nine points clear of Mikel Arteta's side and Chelsea, with the two teams only separated in the table by alphabetical order.
Liverpool were in action against Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday, with Pep Guardiola's side continuing a dismal run of form which has seen them lose six of their last seven in all competitions, with the other game a 3-3 draw against Feyenoord after City had led 3-0 with 15 minutes to go.
The 2-0 win for Liverpool has cemented them as favourites to lift the Premier League title this season, and Arsenal icon Wright says that the only way the Reds won't be lifting the trophy in May will be if they suffer some damaging injuries to key personnel. And that's not including goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who has been out of action since October due to a hamstring injury, with Caoimhin Kelleher deputising to fantastic effect.
"It will only be injuries to key players now," Wright said on the Kelly & Wrighty Show. "Not even the goalie, they don’t even have their main goalkeeper, but with the way Kelleher is playing, you wouldn’t believe Alisson can make better saves.
"You have to think to yourself, that’s the only thing. Even if they do have a mishap like Forest, since then it’s been nothing, faultless. I believe they’ve kicked into a position now where you need to chase them, they need to lose three or four, I can’t see it."
Liverpool face Newcastle in the league up next, with the Gunners desperate for Slot's team to drop some points. Arteta's side, meanwhile, face Manchester United, hoping to inflict Ruben Amorim's first loss since taking over as manager at Old Trafford.
